Modifying the Air Conditioning on a Nissan Terrano 2 to Make It Work Properly

This is a manual solution for a common issue with this vehicle: the air conditioning is not cold enough. When set to "cold", a residual flow of hot water from the engine continues to pass through the heating radiator, mixing with the cooled air from the air conditioning evaporator, thus reducing its effectiveness. By installing a 1/2" ball valve on the pipe that supplies water to the heating radiator, you completely block the flow of hot water during the summer. The threaded pipe and clamps are needed to connect the valve to the cut pipe. The result is that the air coming from the vents will be as cold as that of modern cars. However, before attempting this very simple operation, it is advisable to rule out a faulty thermostat as the problem. Once this issue is excluded, it is an effective and low-cost solution if your air conditioning is of the "cool only" type.
