Vauxhall Vectra - Video tutorial

Model: Vauxhall Vectra Vectra C, MK 3 - Years 2002-2008
Part: Steering wheel
Operation: Steering wheel replacement with airbag removal

The replacement of the steering wheel requires the removal of the airbag which is a delicate operation. First of all it is necessary to deactivate the opening of the airbag. Normally there is a switch positioned on the dashboard that allows the disarming of all the installed airbags, the position of this device is well indicated and in any case, in case of uncertainty, refer to the owner's manual of the car. Start unscrewing the airbag lock retaining screws, accessible through the holes on the sides of the steering wheel column using the Allen key and a screwdriver. Loosen the screws and carefully pull the airbag cover by releasing the plastic catches. Once the airbag has been removed, disconnect the two connectors on the rear of it by releasing the small plastic tabs with a tool. Be careful not to drop the airbag module, do not place it near intense heat sources, do not take it away, do not shake it or hit it, it could explode. Carefully remove the screw on the column and take out the wiring. Now it is possible to remove the screw fixing the steering wheel to the column using a torx wrench with extension. Unscrew the screw until it is removed. Remove the steering wheel by hand paying close attention to the airbag cables.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
