Periodically checking the engine oil level is certainly a good habit to verify if there are any oil consumption issues that may depend on various factors: lack of sealing of the piston rings, failure of the valve guide seals in the cylinder head, or a sealing problem in the turbocharger. That said, after starting the engine for a few minutes, turn it off and wait for the oil to settle in the sump; at this point, remove the dipstick, clean it, and insert it again to extract it once more: it is important that the dipstick shows oil between the minimum and maximum marks, which indicates there is one litre of oil between them.
