Replacing Glow Plugs on Opel Vivaro 1.6 CDTI

Follow these steps to replace the glow plugs on the Opel Vivaro 1.6 CDTI: start by disconnecting the battery, then remove the plastic cover. Next, disconnect the glow plug connectors, clean the area, and apply some penetrating fluid; ideally, do this 24 hours before the job to reduce the risk of breakage. The engine should be warm (but not hot), then spray freeze spray on the base of the glow plugs to create thermal shock (which helps with unscrewing). Using a 10 mm socket with an extension, slowly unscrew counter-clockwise: if the glow plug resists, alternate between applying penetrating fluid and gently tapping the socket to loosen it; if it breaks, extract the fragments with needle-nose pliers. Install the new glow plugs (torque 15/20 Nm); usually, it is not necessary to use lubricants on the new threads; reconnect the connectors and start the engine.
