How to Clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor on the Opel Astra 1.7 JTD

The mass air flow sensor is usually located between the air filter box and the intake pipe. This component can get dirty and provide incorrect information to the engine control unit. To clean the mass air flow sensor of any MultiJet vehicle, proceed as follows. First, disconnect the electrical connector and then the two steel clamps that connect the sensor to the filter box and the intake pipe; once freed, you can clean it thoroughly with a contact cleaner (the one used in the video is from Arexons). Allow it to dry, possibly using an air jet to aid in the complete removal of dirt, and then reassemble it in its place, ensuring that the two steel clamps and the electrical connector are secured properly. Operation complete.
