How to Clean the EGR Valve of an Opel Astra

In this video, see how to clean an EGR valve. In this Opel, the valve is easily accessible, so removing it is straightforward. Just disconnect the connector, unscrew the screws, and gently take it out of its housing. You will notice it is full of soot, so avoid letting any debris fall into the engine. Remove the bulk with a screwdriver, then separate the electrical part from the mechanical part by unscrewing the four screws that connect them. To clean the mechanical part, any degreasing product will do, and you will also need a brush to reach every part of the component. If you use anything metallic, be careful not to scratch the sliding needle. Rinse with water and degreaser, then with just water. Reassemble the valve with its electrical part, and refit it, replacing the gaskets. The job is complete.
