The Peugeot 2008's I-cockpit 3D is an advanced digital instrumentation system that combines technology and design to enhance the driving experience. The fundamental principle is to project essential information at the driver's eye level, so as not to distract attention from the road; it consists of an LCD display behind the steering wheel and a semi-reflective panel on the dashboard, which creates the 3D effect. The lower panel is static and displays basic information such as speed, speed limits, safety alerts; the upper panel is dynamic and shows more critical information, such as navigation directions, danger alerts, cruise control, creating a 3D floating effect above the steering wheel. This way, the driver does not have to look away from the road to check instruments or screens; different layout types can be chosen, and the information adapts to the context (in addition to the futuristic design that sets the car apart from the competition); it is not a hologram, but an optical illusion created by the overlap of panels, which automatically adjusts to the height of the information based on the driving position.
