How to diagnose a problem with the AdBlue system on a Peugeot Partner

Let's see how to correctly diagnose a problem with the AdBlue system of a Peugeot Partner. The engine control unit signals errors such as "urea pressure too low" and low efficiency of the SCR catalyst. It is necessary to use a tool to read the errors through the EOBD port. The injector is then removed and checked for the presence of carbon deposits, which could clog it. Using a diagnostic tool, a precise function is activated, which commands the injection of urea for about 30/40 seconds; the urea is collected in a test tube to measure the amount dispensed (should be around 50 ml). The collected AdBlue is analyzed with a refractometer, and the concentration should be between 31% and 35%; a concentration lower than 30% indicates that the urea is degraded and ineffective, and is often the cause of the problem. Therefore, before replacing expensive components (such as the pump or injector), it is essential to test both the mechanical functionality of the system (pressure and flow) and the chemical quality of the AdBlue itself, which can degrade over time if stored improperly.
