When working with the engine off and the handbrake engaged, lift the bonnet and place the appropriate support rod. The diesel filter is located in the engine compartment and you will therefore have to remove the engine cover as a first step. Disconnect the filter hoses by pushing the attachment tab with a flat head screwdriver. Disconnect the connector and finally you can unscrew the cover: to do this you need a 24 mm wrench. After doing this, remove the filter by placing it in a container and taking care not to drip any fuel. Proceed backwards for assembly.

How do you open the fuel flap of the Volkswagen Golf 5?
