Dismantling the Halfshaft Fixing Nut

Once the vehicle is lifted and the front wheel is removed, the halfshaft fixing nut is located at the centre of the hub; this nut has indentations made with a hammer and chisel to prevent it from accidentally loosening (in some cases, a safety pin is also present); therefore, before unscrewing the nut, it is necessary to re-flatten the indentations to avoid damaging the thread of the halfshaft during dismantling: use a punch or screwdriver and with a hammer, straighten the indentations of the nut, then proceed to unscrew the nut itself using a pneumatic gun.
