How the Peugeot 106 Ignition Barrel Works

The ignition barrel, colloquially known as the 'fruit', is the component attached to the steering column that allows you to disengage the steering lock and subsequently start the engine after recognising the immobiliser code present in the key, thanks to the antenna located around the barrel itself. To carry out a disassembly operation, it is absolutely necessary to have the original key. Once the key is inserted, the lock recognises the combination, allowing the key to turn and align the locking cam, which can then be pressed to extract the barrel or the lock itself.
