How to replace the rear discs and pads of a Renault Trafic MK3.

To replace the discs and pads of the Renault Trafic 3, we first need to open the hood and remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir. We loosen the wheel nuts, lift the rear of the vehicle, and place jack stands at solid points on the frame. We remove the wheels. With a 13mm wrench, we unscrew the two bolts of the caliper and remove it from the bracket, hanging the caliper to one side without putting tension on the brake line. With a 21mm wrench, we unscrew the two bolts of the caliper bracket and remove it. Using a chisel and hammer, we remove the hub dust cap (a small central nut). We then loosen the hub nut with a 36mm socket and pull off the disc. We clean the hub and the ABS sensor with brake cleaner spray. We can find the disc kit with 4 pads (for the rear axle) on auto-doc. It has the EAN code 4059191373758 at a price of 95.97 + 9.95 euros for shipping. We clean the new disc with brake spray and absorbent paper; we place the new disc on the hub by hand-screwing it, and then tighten it with a torque wrench to 170/200 Nm. We put the dust cap back on. We secure the caliper bracket, apply copper grease to the back of the new pads and on the tabs that contact the bracket, and insert them into the bracket. Now we need to retract the caliper piston using a specific tool for rear pistons, turning clockwise (looking at the piston) until it is fully retracted. We reattach the caliper and screw the sliding bolts to 30/40 Nm. Now we need to repeat everything on the other side. We reattach the wheels and lower the car. We pump the brake pedal several times until it reaches the usual firmness. We check the brake fluid level. If it is too high, we siphon it with a syringe to bring it back to its normal level.
