Repairing the Transponder Fault of Renault Megane Remote Key

In this video, we see that the key opens and closes the doors but does not start the car. The system does not recognise the key inside the cabin. The problem is a faulty solder joint on two contacts connecting the antenna to the motherboard. With use and impacts, these solder joints crack, interrupting the signal. The solution proposed by Renault is expensive: replacing the entire key costs over £500. The repair described in the video is very economical. We need to open the key (which is sealed) and carefully cut around the perimeter of the casing with a utility knife (taking care not to damage the internal circuit board). Once the fault is identified, locate the two transponder tabs that have the broken or lifted solder. Manually re-solder the two contacts with a soldering iron and glue the two halves of the casing back together. The repair is technically simple but mechanically delicate, as it requires opening the key without damaging it, but once this is done, a soldering job will resolve the issue.
