How to Replace the Front Strut on a Renault Scenic II

In this video, see how to replace the front strut on a Renault Scenic II. First, remove the under-bonnet grille located under the left rear side, then the rubber seal. Now, unscrew the fastening element of the under-bonnet grille on the right side and lift the grille from this side.

Clean the upper support of the strut with WD-40 and loosen the upper fastening elements. Lift the front of the vehicle and remove the front wheels, then clean the fastening elements connecting the stabiliser strut to the shock absorber strut, and those connecting to the ball joint with WD-40. Then remove the stabiliser bar from the shock absorber support.

Disconnect the wiring and the flexible hose from the shock absorber support bracket, and then the fastening elements connecting the strut to the ball joint. Use a wire brush to clean the fastening element connecting the ball joint to the spindle, then unscrew the pin connecting the two components; support the ball joint and detach the fastening elements between the strut and the ball joint, using a hammer if necessary.

Unscrew the upper fastening element of the shock absorber support strut. At this point, you can extract the shock absorber.

Refit the dust cover, the pressure limiter, and the spring, then remount the upper support with its bearing, and using the tool, tighten the spring.
