How to Change the Cabin Air Filter
Model: Saab 9 5
MK 1, Ys3e
- Years 1997-2010
When you take your car for a service, it is easy to forget about a very important filter: the cabin air filter. It filters the air coming from outside, working in conjunction with the base filter and the activated carbon filter; if you start to notice inefficiency in the ventilation, this is the first reason you might consider. Fortunately, its replacement is not complex: it is generally located on the passenger side under the glove compartment. To replace it, remove the screws holding the plastic: with a screwdriver, gently press in the centre and then on the sides to push it out; be careful of the connector attached to the plastic. At this point, there are some Torx screws; once those are removed, move the plastic down to find more screws to remove, namely those of the glove compartment. Open it and remove the last screws to allow movement: there are other connectors and a tube, disconnect them gently. You will find the filter housing, held by some bolts: once these are removed, push out the housing and pull out the filter. Give it a good clean, if necessary, before reinserting everything; if needed, replace the rubber and attach it over the new housing. Reassemble everything by following the procedure in reverse.
