How to change the engine oil and filter of a Seat Leon yourself.

On the SEAT Leon, the oil and filter change is performed safely with the vehicle on a flat surface and well supported on jack stands, never just with a jack. With the engine warm (not hot), prepare a collection basin, suitable wrenches/attachments, an oil filter wrench if necessary, a funnel, gloves, and rags. Access the underside of the engine and, if present, remove the underbody protection panel to reach the oil pan and drain plug. Position the collection basin, unscrew the drain plug, and let the oil drain completely. During the draining process, check the condition of the washer or gasket of the plug and replace it if necessary or if it appears deformed.

Next, move on to the oil filter. Locate the filter housing and carefully remove it, as it may contain residual oil; keep the basin under the work area. Clean the mounting surface, ensure that the old gasket is not stuck, and lubricate the gasket of the new filter (or the O-ring of the cover, if it is a cartridge filter) with a thin layer of clean oil. Install the new filter, tightening it according to the vehicle or filter manufacturer's specifications, without over-tightening.

Once the oil has finished draining, close the drain plug with the appropriate gasket and tighten it correctly, avoiding stripping the oil pan. Reinstall the underbody protection if applicable. From the engine compartment, open the filler cap and add new oil in the amount specified for your engine, then wait a moment and check the level with the dipstick, adjusting until it is between the minimum and maximum marks. Start the engine for a few seconds to fill the system and then turn it off, then recheck for any leaks around the plug and filter.
