How to Replace the Timing Belt on a Skoda Fabia

Replacing the timing belt on a car is a rather complex job. Below, we outline the main phases, also using the video for guidance. First, open the bonnet, remove the right front wheel, and lift the vehicle. Next, remove the upper cover of the timing belt by releasing the two clips, and unscrew the bolts of the engine mount. This will give you access to the upper part of the timing belt and the auxiliary belt. Set and secure the top dead centre by rotating the crankshaft and marking the reference with a marker to avoid losing the timing. Then, remove the auxiliary belt by loosening the tensioner. Next, remove the crankshaft pulley and the lower cover of the timing belt. At this point, you can remove the belt by loosening the tensioner.
