In order to replace the starter motor of the Smart, you need to open the rear door of the car and remove the panel located at the base of the rear compartment, under which the engine block is located. Behind the engine block itself, the starter motor will be present: it must be removed from its housing by unscrewing the fixing screws and disconnecting the appropriate power cables. Once the old starter motor has been released, it will be possible to insert the new replacement part into its housing, fixing and connecting it properly.
