How to Reset the Maintenance Light on a Subaru Outback Mk4

This guide shows how to reset the maintenance light on a Subaru Outback Mk4. The first step is to start the engine and wait for the engine revs to stabilise. At this point, press and hold the brake pedal. Next, turn on the rear window demister and then the parking lights. Turn off the demister first and then the parking lights. Repeat this sequence two more times. Now, release the brake pedal and wait for the hazard lights to flash, which lasts about five seconds at the end of the reset operation. Wait thirty seconds before turning off the engine. Now turn on the ignition to check the successful completion of the operation.
