Instructions for Replacing Half Shaft

Model: Subaru Impreza MK 4 - Years 2011-2016

Loosen the wheel fixing bolts before lifting the vehicle, then position it on suitable axle stands and complete the wheel removal; straighten the indentation of the half shaft fixing nut with the tip of a screwdriver and loosen it using the appropriate socket wrench, drain the oil from the gearbox to prevent it from spilling during the half shaft removal; remove the link that connects the stabiliser bar to the suspension wishbone, then the wishbone ball joint from the hub, the brake caliper and its bracket; then insert two pins into the threaded holes of the disc to extract it from its seat, remove the tie rod end from the steering rack, the grommet of the speed sensor, the sensor itself, and the fixing pins of the shock absorber to the hub support; at this point, the hub is free, and you can slide the half shaft out first from the hub and then from the gearbox. Then extract the old oil seal from the gearbox side and insert the new one after lubricating it, with the lip facing inwards; proceed in reverse for the installation of the half shaft.
