How to Charge a Toyota Hybrid Battery Without Losing Speed

To keep the battery of your Toyota Hybrid always charged (in a range between 70% and 80%), you need to use the "soft foot" technique. Accelerate to the desired speed, slightly exceeding the first mark of the ECO zone on the power meter, to start the petrol engine, then gradually release the accelerator pedal until the needle drops just below the first mark of the ECO zone. Maintain the pedal in this precise position (just below the first mark). This way, the petrol engine stays on and operates at low revs (high efficiency), driving the wheels and simultaneously charging the battery (as seen from the energy flow on the display: petrol= wheels + battery). Adjust the accelerator to maintain a constant speed, never exceeding that area just below the first ECO mark. This way, the battery charges (in the video it reaches 72%); the petrol engine remains warm (useful in winter); consumption is low (in the video 32 km/l), and the driving is smooth, better than pure coasting at a constant speed.
