How to Program Your Toyota Key

Let's see how to program a Toyota key by yourself, although we must give an important warning. For modern cars (from 2005 onwards), key programming requires a professional diagnostic computer and a connection to the OBD2 port. The "lever" procedure described in the video is only for locking/unlocking doors and works only for some models up to 2008/2010. The immobilizer function is excluded; in any case, programming a key from scratch (without a working key) always requires professional assistance. Now, let's go through the procedure: close all hatches and doors, insert and remove the working key from the ignition twice, then open and close the driver's door twice. Insert and remove the key from the ignition again twice, then insert the key and close the door. Turn the key to ON and then to "lock" without starting the engine once. The locks will close and open to confirm programming mode. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the new remote for about 1-2 seconds. While still holding, press the unlock button for another second. The locks should actuate to confirm that the remote has been recognized. To exit programming mode, simply open the driver's door.
