How does the Toyota Yaris Hybrid work?

The Toyota Yaris Hybrid features a petrol engine and an electric motor that recharges by recovering energy from braking or via the alternator. When the brake pedal is pressed, the needle on the left side of the instrument cluster moves to "CHG", which stands for Charge. Additionally, the display in the centre of the dashboard monitors the usage of both the petrol engine and the electric motor, indicating the battery status. Driving with the petrol engine will recharge the battery and electric motor, but fuel consumption will increase, whereas driving in fully electric mode will reduce consumption.
