Replacement of Front Wheel Hub Bearing

Model: Toyota Avensis MK 1, T220 - Years 1997-2003

To replace the front wheel hub bearing, it is preferable to completely dismantle the hub for easier work on the bench: once the vehicle is lifted, remove the wheel, the brake caliper with its support, disconnect the tie rod end from the steering box and the suspension wishbone, undo the mounting bolts of the shock absorber and extract the driveshaft. Once the hub is completely disassembled and placed on the bench (possibly secured in a vice), detach the retaining circlip of the bearing, extract the old bearing using a press, and insert the new one in the same manner (alternatively, you can make a puller with a sleeve and a threaded rod); reapply the circlip and proceed in reverse for the installation back onto the vehicle.
