How Does the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Work?

Model: (Various brands) Various
Part: Checks and maintenance

Video tutorial

In this animation, we see how the tyre pressure monitoring system works: there is a sensor located inside each tyre, and a receiver, which is essentially a control unit that communicates with the onboard computer, informing us of what the sensors detect.

If one of the sensors detects a problem, it communicates this to the control unit, which transmits it to the display that lights up a warning light and informs us which tyre has lost pressure.

A reset of the system may be necessary after tyre rotation, due to corrosion, the end of the sensor battery life, a puncture repair, or any work done on a tyre.
