How to Reset the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

Model: (Various brands) Various
Part: Checks and maintenance

Let’s see how to reset the throttle position sensor (TPS). This sensor monitors how open the throttle is when the accelerator is pressed; it sends this information to the engine control unit, determining how much fuel to inject. If the TPS is not calibrated correctly, you may experience idle issues, hesitation during acceleration, increased fuel consumption, and the engine light may illuminate. The recalibration procedure may vary slightly depending on the car model, but it is essentially as follows: turn on the ignition and slowly press the accelerator all the way down; then release it slowly. Repeat this three times to teach the control unit the throttle movement. Keep the ignition on for another 30 seconds, then turn it off and wait another 10 seconds. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes; this allows the engine to realign the idle position.

How to reset the tyre pressure light on the Kia Sportage?

To reset the tyre pressure light on the Kia Sportage, there is no specific procedure to follow. You need to identify which tyres are under-inflated and inflate them to the correct pressure. The correct pressure value is indicated on the sticker attached to the driver's door pillar. Once all the tyres have been inflated, wait for the pressure sensors to read the new values. You may need to drive a short distance: as soon as the new value is detected, the light will turn off automatically.
