How to Check Fluid Levels

Before embarking on a journey, it is advisable to check the levels of all the car fluids to top up if necessary. The first fluid to check is the oil. Ensure the car is parked on level ground and the engine is off; having taken the necessary precautions, check the oil dipstick for colour and quantity. An optimal level is considered when it is between the minimum and maximum marks. The second fluid to check is the coolant reservoir. It is important that this level is always at maximum, so unscrew the cap and add coolant. The third fluid to check is the brake fluid reservoir, which also has minimum and maximum indicators. The level drops when the brake pads are worn, causing the pistons to absorb more fluid. Therefore, top it up but also have the pads checked. The fourth fluid to check is the windscreen washer fluid. Regularly add fluid to ensure proper cleaning of the windscreen.
