How to Drain the Engine Oil from Your Car

The method for draining used engine oil is the same for all vehicles. The first step is to lift the car and position a container directly under the oil sump to collect the oil for proper disposal according to your local regulations. Next, remove the screws holding the oil sump panel; some vehicles do not have a protective panel. In any case, use a spanner to remove the oil sump plug and allow the used oil to drain out. Once all the oil has completely drained, you can close the container.
