In this video, you will see the symptoms of a malfunctioning high-pressure fuel pump: first, you may hear a metallic noise inside the engine bay due to the spring sliding over the cam, which is pushed very quickly and creates high pressure in the fuel.

Inside, there is a roller that can wear out or get damaged, causing a sort of whistling, and the engine warning light will also illuminate, with error code P0087 readable on the ECU. Another symptom could be difficulty starting, or when revving between 2,000 and 4,000 RPM, you may experience hesitations or backfires.

You may also notice increased fuel consumption, low power, and irregular idle. It is therefore essential to test the pump using the specifications for your vehicle and check that the components are in good condition.

Working on these high-pressure components can be very dangerous, so it is crucial that the work is carried out with safety measures; otherwise, it is better to entrust the job to specialists.
