Operation: The timing of a chain engine

In this video we try to understand how the timing works: we have two marks on a camshaft, and two others on another one: the first one is for the timing of the shafts, the second for the timing of the high pressure pump. We start from the top mark; the mark must be facing upwards, while the gap below must be perfectly perpendicular. Now we have to connect the high point with the low one, with a new flywheel oil seal, phonic wheel following the reference dot, then the flywheel (which we will temporarily block). We put the crankcase back in place and align the pulley with the mark on the outside of it. Now that it is positioned correctly, we can lock the flywheel. We mount the chain, and also on this we have reference points, upper and lower, which must coincide with the point on the shaft (lower) and on the pulley (upper). We mount the guides, the chain tensioner; we make a few turns to make sure everything is ok, after a good lubrication. Then we can close the crankcase. Now it's time for the high pressure pump, for which we must also do the timing, we connect it and then continue with the valve cover, exhaust and intake group, then the injectors and glow plugs, but first the rail. Then the vacuum pump, the EGR valve. We tighten the flywheel bolts, then the filter with the water pump, reattach the turbine drain pipe; oil cap. We assemble the engine to the gearbox, then the service belt and we are ready to reassemble the engine on the vehicle.

How do I unlock the automatic transmission of the BMW 3 Series?

In order to unlock the automatic transmission of the BMW 3 Series, the Start / Stop button and the lever release button must be pressed at the same time. This procedure will allow the car gearbox to be unlocked for about 15 minutes, so that in the event of an engine failure, the car can still be moved. It may be necessary to repeat the operation more than once for its success. After unlocking the gearbox, it can return to its original state by simply waiting for the aforementioned 15 minutes, or by pushing the release lever forward for a few seconds.
