Timing a Chain Engine

In this video, understand how timing works: there are two marks on one camshaft and two on another. The first mark is for the timing of the shafts, the second for the high-pressure pump timing. Start with the top mark; it should face upwards, while the notch below must be perfectly perpendicular. Now connect the top point to the bottom point, using a new crankshaft seal, and align the timing wheel following the reference point, then the flywheel (which we will temporarily lock). Place the cover back and align the pulley with the dot on its exterior. Once positioned correctly, lock the flywheel. Install the chain, ensuring the reference points, upper and lower, align with the point on the shaft (lower) and on the pulley (upper). Install the guides and the chain tensioner; let it run a few turns to ensure everything is okay after a good lubrication. Then close the cover. Now move on to the high-pressure pump, which also needs timing; connect it, then continue with the rocker cover, exhaust, and intake assembly, followed by the injectors and glow plugs, but first the rail. Then the vacuum pump and the EGR valve. Tighten the flywheel bolts, then the water pump with filter, reconnect the turbine drain pipe, and oil sump. Assemble the engine to the gearbox, then the auxiliary belt, and you are ready to reinstall the engine in the vehicle.
