(Various brands) Various - Video tutorial

Model: (Various brands) Various
Part: Interior blower
Operation: How to check the engine cooling fan

In this video we see how to check a mechanical cooling fan; we will start by inspecting the cooling fan drive belt, which should be replaced if we find it dirty with grease or if we find signs of wear on the belt, which may indicate that it may break soon. It is good to check the tension of the fan drive belt and the condition of the tensioner pulley, as well as the cooling fan bearing. Once the engine is turned off, we should rotate the fan by hand; it should move smoothly. If we notice a rotation error, we should replace some bearings, or the entire rotation assembly. If we find some play, tighten the belt, check the viscous fan clutch, then rotate the fan blades, which should not show any resistance. Before starting the diagnosis of the electric fan, remove the negative pole of the battery; check if there is a fuse or relay problem, then check the fan wiring, and the temperature sensor - starting the engine and checking if the fan turns on - if this does not happen the sensor must be replaced, but first check the connectors.

Replace the steering angle sensor on the Volkswagen Golf 5

When the steering angle sensor malfunction warning light comes on, it may need to be replaced as follows: first remove the steering wheel and the lower steering wheel guard by removing the three fixing screws. The steering sensor is located just below the steering column. To release it you need to have a small screwdriver and insert it into the hole on the front, push the screwdriver all the way down until the clips at the bottom are released. Next, pull down on the back of the card containing the sensor and disengage it from the steering column. At that point take the new card and reposition it, after which proceed backwards to reassemble the various components.
