How to Clean the Throttle Body

If your car's engine runs unevenly, especially at idle, and fuel consumption increases, the throttle body may need cleaning. Consult the owner's manual to locate it, as its position varies from car to car. Allow the car to cool down, then start by removing the components of the throttle body's intake system.

Disconnect the electrical connectors and control cables, and unscrew the fastening bolts. Insert a cloth into the intake hole, following the manufacturer's instructions, apply cleaner to the various parts using a brush (remember to wear appropriate protection when handling chemicals), and finish by cleaning everything with a microfiber cloth.

Reassemble all components in reverse order.
