To disable Lane Assist on the Volkswagen Golf, turn the ignition key in the ignition switch to power on the instrument cluster: once powered, press the menu icon located on the display in the centre of the dashboard, situated at the top right of the screen.

This will bring up a menu with the various active driving aids: Lane Assist will be the first on the list and can be activated or deactivated by checking or unchecking the box next to the relevant label.
