How to Remove the Steering Angle Sensor on a VW Golf V

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008

If the stability control system (ESP) warning light remains illuminated on the dashboard, represented by the symbol of a skidding car, and the fault memory shows the steering angle sensor error (Error Code 00788 or G85), it means the steering angle sensor located just behind the steering wheel, directly under the indicator stalk, is damaged. To replace it, you must disconnect and remove the airbag, then remove the steering wheel and the covers surrounding the indicator stalk. At this point, disconnect the sensor plug and unclip it from the rear before fully removing it.
