Replacing the Timing Belt on a Volkswagen Golf

Learn how to remove and replace the timing belt on a Volkswagen Golf. Open the bonnet and lift it, securing it in place. Remove the reservoir containing the coolant using a socket wrench, disconnect the wiring harness with pliers, and remove the plastic undertray with a screwdriver. Lift the vehicle with a column lift to access the underside. Use a spanner to loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. With a socket wrench, unscrew the tensioner pulley bolt, and remove the water pump as shown in the video. Fit the new water pump, tensioner, and belt, tightening everything with the socket wrench. Finally, refit the radiator with the securing bolts.
