How to remove the tailgate lock from a Volkswagen Golf? Follow these steps: open and lift the tailgate of your car, use a screwdriver to unscrew the securing screws located in the plastic panel (where the handles are). Remove the plastic from the tailgate of the boot (use a plastic or metal lever if needed), disconnect any power connectors.

Remove the faulty lock and fit a new one. Reassemble the plastics and associated parts in reverse order of disassembly.
