How to recharge the air conditioner of the Volkswagen Tiguan

We open the hood and look for the recharge valve, which is located on the passenger side, near the windshield. There are two: one thicker is the recharge tube, the other thinner is the high pressure one. We remove the cap, shake the R134a bottle and connect it to the pressure gauge, then we connect the adapter to the low pressure valve: we start the engine with the A/C at maximum and fan at full speed.

The bottle must not be upside down; we open the pressure gauge valve and check the pressure, which must be between 25 and 45 PSI, without exceeding the limit of the red zone. After ten minutes we check the temperature in the passenger compartment: the air output must be between 4 and 8 °C. The kit must be disconnected with the engine off. If the air does not cool, there may be a leak; if the compressor does not start, we check relays and fuses.
