Want to replace the gear knob on your Volkswagen Passat? Here’s how to do it: Use a plastic trim tool to detach the leather gaiter trim, then grasp the gear knob and twist it left and right until it comes off the gear stick (cut the plastic tie). For reassembly: Take the new gear knob and slide it onto the stick in the centre console, securing it in place; fit the new leather gaiter with the clips. Finally, test the movement of the stick in the centre console to ensure the gear knob is correctly installed.
