Volkswagen Maggiolino - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen Maggiolino MK 1 - Years 1938-1980
Part: Windshield
Operation: Do-it-yourself windshield replacement

First remove the wiper blades complete with drive arms and the interior rear-view mirror (just turn it clockwise). Using a cutter, cut the gasket around the windshield internally and push it forward (towards the outside) to be able to detach it completely and remove it (be careful not to deform the chrome frame around the windshield itself). Then disassemble the chromed frame by removing the central coupling clips and sliding the two frame pieces out of the gasket. Clean the windscreen with extreme care by removing all the residues of the old gasket and apply the new one by inserting the edge of the windscreen into the appropriate groove; then reapply the chrome frame by inserting it inside the gasket and blocking the two pieces with the relative fasteners (apply adhesive tape to prevent them from slipping off when installing the windscreen). Insert inside the gasket of the electric cable: this will allow the gasket to adhere to the edge of the bodywork by pulling it from the inside (it is advisable to lubricate the gasket with silicone spray). Place the windshield in its seat (we recommend that you get help during this operation) and press it inwards, at the same time pulling the electric cable so as to adhere the lip of the gasket to the edge of the frame. Refit the rear view mirror and wipers.
