How to change the battery of the Volkswagen Golf key

To replace the battery of the Volkswagen Golf remote, prepare a CR2032 button battery and work on a clean surface to avoid losing small components. Before starting, check that the key is dry and that there is no dirt between the joints of the casing. Locate the opening point of the remote and carefully separate the two halves of the casing, prying gently without forcing: the goal is to disengage the clips without breaking the tabs. Once opened, pull out the internal module enough to access the battery compartment and the dedicated slot. Remove the old battery from its housing, paying attention to the orientation (positive/negative pole) and the metal contacts. Insert the new CR2032 battery in the same orientation, ensuring it is well seated and held by the contacts. At this point, reposition the rear cover or the closing part of the battery compartment correctly and press until you hear it click into place. Then, close the remote casing by aligning the profiles and pressing evenly along the perimeter until all the clips snap back into place. Finally, check that the remote works (door opening/closing) and that the buttons have a smooth travel. If the key does not respond after replacement, check that the battery is inserted in the correct orientation and that the casing is completely closed, with no gaps.
