What to do if the "electronic handbrake error" message appears on the dashboard of our Volkswagen T-Roc.

The warning light or the message "electronic handbrake error" indicates that the handbrake control unit has detected an anomaly. First, let's make sure that nothing (a bottle, a package, etc.) is inadvertently pressing the EPB or auto-hold buttons on the center console; let's drive for a few kilometers: sometimes it's just a software glitch that resets after a few kilometers; let's try turning off and on the car after 2/3 minutes, and opening and closing the driver's door. If the error persists, let's try the calibration recommended in the video: disconnect the battery (negative terminal) for 10/15 minutes to reset the control units. Hold down the brake pedal for 30 seconds, and while holding it, also press the handbrake button for about 10 seconds. While keeping both buttons pressed, start the engine. Release the EPB button (we should hear a cycle of activation/deactivation of the brake). Turn off the engine and then turn the ignition back on. The error should be gone.
