Guide to Replacing the Alternator of a Volkswagen New Beetle

The following steps will allow you to remove and replace the alternator of a Volkswagen New Beetle. First, open the bonnet and disconnect the battery; then disconnect the alternator belt by loosening the tensioner with a spanner, as shown in the video. At this point, unscrew the alternator screws to remove it, disconnecting the electrical wiring; replace the alternator with the new original one, reassembling (replacing if worn) the alternator belt. Reconnect the battery and start the engine!
