How to Remove the Light Switch on the Steering Wheel of a VW Golf V

The light switch or steering column control unit is a device that integrates various elements; in addition to the indicators and windscreen wiper controls, it also includes the steering angle sensor and the spiral ring through which the airbag signals and any steering wheel controls pass if present on the spokes. To remove it, you can use two approaches: either disassemble the various elements while leaving the plastic support connected to the steering column, as shown in the video, or lower the front part of the column and use a punch to unscrew the two anti-tamper pins that secure the entire support to the column. In both cases, you will need to remove the airbag, the steering wheel, and the covering shells.
