The first model of the Volkswagen Golf, known as mk1, although quite dated, is still present on UK roads. Therefore, it is useful to know how to reset the service light independently without having to go to a garage. After performing the service, that is, after changing both the engine oil and the relevant filter (and possibly the air filter and cabin filter), you can reset the light by simply pressing the button next to the speedometer, turning on the engine, and waiting for the "insp" (which stands for "inspection") message to disappear from the display.
