Replacing the EGR valve on a Volkswagen Tiguan TDI MK1

The video shows the replacement of the EGR valve on a 2007 Volkswagen Tiguan TDI, due to the engine warning light coming on and the engine going into safe mode. Start by removing the air intake hose (two large side screws, flexible). Then unscrew the screws that secure the EGR valve: two on top and one underneath, the latter being very difficult to reach. It is advisable to also remove the air filter box and the intake hose. The lower screw is long and hidden: a special tool, like a small ratchet spanner with an extension, is needed to reach it. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Once the valve is opened, it is found to be completely clogged with dirt and deposits, preventing it from functioning correctly (opening and closing). Clean it or replace it with a new one. Reassembly is the reverse operation: replace the shorter screws first, reconnect the connector, remount the intake hose with the clamp and rubber gasket, and tighten the screws. Finally, test the ignition: the engine starts without issues and no warning lights are on.
