Timing Belt Replacement on a VW Golf

Removing the timing belt on a Golf? Here’s how to change the belt. Remove the coolant reservoir using a socket spanner, disconnect the wiring harness with pliers, and remove the plastic engine cover with a screwdriver. Lift the car with a jack. Use a spanner to loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. Using a socket spanner, unscrew the tensioner pulley bolt, and remove the water pump if it needs replacing. Fit the new water pump, the tensioner, and the belt itself, tightening everything with the socket spanner. Refit all the covers for the various belts.
