Replacing Key Battery on Volkswagen Passat

Let's look at replacing the key for the Volkswagen Passat. Take your ignition key and remove the cover where the key battery is housed. Using a screwdriver, pry between the two plastic parts until they separate: extract the flat battery with a screwdriver and take a new one of the same size and voltage. Reassemble the two parts of the key fob cover until you hear them click into place. Check the proper functioning of the key fob by testing the door lock and unlock buttons. Replace the flat battery with a new one of the same type.
