Removing the Steering Wheel Airbag on Volkswagen Passat

Model: Volkswagen Passat B6, 3C - Years 2005-2010

Unscrew the Torx T20 screw located under the steering wheel, as shown in the video, then pull the lever underneath the steering column to pull the steering wheel towards you, and finally put the lever back in place. Remove the upper plastic cover from the steering column and open the clips that secure it, then disconnect the connectors. Before removing the airbag, for safety, you should disconnect the battery: in this case, disconnect the negative terminal first, as always, then the positive. Insert a flat screwdriver into the side slots of the steering wheel and apply pressure to extract the airbag: to work better, slightly rotate the steering wheel. Good luck!
