How to Check if a Glow Plug is Faulty

Model: Volkswagen Bora MK 6 - Years 1998-2005

From the initial images of this video clip, you will notice that the engine check-up software has detected two faults labelled "intermittent" (as displayed on the screen), indicating irregular operation rather than a definitive fault. The first (16764 Glow plug) pertains to the glow plugs, while the second (17664 Engine coolant sensor) relates to the coolant temperature sensor. To check these components, you will need to remove the cover above the engine. Follow the on-screen instructions to locate the coolant sensor. For the glow plug circuit, disconnect the connector as shown, then disconnect all four glow plugs. Once the glow plugs are exposed, test each one individually with a multimeter like the one used in the video, or with a traditional type by connecting one probe to ground and the other to the glow plug; if there is no contact, the glow plug is shorted.
