Volkswagen Touareg - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen Touareg 7L, MK 1 - Years 2002-2010
Part: Fuel pump
Operation: Check the correct operation and capacity of the fuel pump

In the following images you can see how to check the correct operation and flow rate of the fuel pump. The car model examined has two pumps and therefore two separate checks will be made. First of all, a pressure gauge was connected to the appropriate fittings to check, with the engine running, the correct working pressure. Turning off the engine, after about ten minutes, the pressure dropped so from this point of view everything seems to be in order. Now tests will be carried out on the flow rate or the quantity of fuel that arrives from the pump to the engine. First open the fuse box by checking and identifying the fuses and relays of the pumps as shown in the video. Then, by disconnecting the fuses and relays, each of the two pumps will be activated individually, collecting the petrol in a calibrated container taking into account that approximately 800 ml of fuel should be collected in about fifteen seconds. As you may have noticed, less fuel came out of the first pump than the second. Car model: VW Touareg V8 Year: 2004
